Mark is in for a challenge, not only is he overweight and unfit he has pledged himself to take part in the 25 mile Orwell Walk and the Ipswich half marathon. This will not only raise his fitness but also money for a good cause. The climb is going to take a lot of effort with over 21 miles walking in just over 3 days. It may not sound a lot but he will be climbing this at altitude where the air is thinner and all the walking will be up hill.
How the Kids Trust has already helped
Want to know more about what the Town Kids Trust does to help local children? See where some of the money has used.
Not only will the money raised help local children but the area surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro is home to some of Tanzania’s poorest communities, and the schools are in dire need of assistance, which this challenge will help to provide. Whilst acclimatising in preparation for the climb, the team will spend 2 - 3 days helping on a range of projects at a local school, including renovating classrooms, clearing land for sports and recreation and restoring furniture – as well as spending time with the pupils of course!
