The Town Kids Trust is part of the Tindle Radio Trust charity, its aims being to:

It does this by providing donations to drive education, health, welfare, ability and opportunity.

The money raised by listeners and businesses in the Ipswich area stays in the Ipswich, awarded to children and families in need - or organisations who support them - three times a year by a local Grand Board.

It's new, but it's been busy! Here are some examples of how locally raised money has been put to good use.

Ipswich Charioteers

Funding allocated for the hire of a specially adapted bus to take new members to see a league game.

Whitton Community Primary School

Supply of high visibility jackets for their day trips out and for the 'walking bus' recently set up by the community.

Ipswich Community Playbus

Donation towards the running costs of this bus which provides free access to early play experience for under 5's. It Travels into areas where families have socio-economic or geographical need of the service that can help in breaking the cycle of poverty.

Asperger East Anglia

Funding for Ipswich young members to go to the pantomime.

The Wooden House Children's Centre, Lanark Road

This community project recently started a local scheme for families whose poverty/financial hardship meant they couldn't afford to purchase home safety equipment.  The Town Kids Trust donated money for the purchase of stair gates, fire guards, cupboard locks, harness and reins.

Out & About Trust

Funding provided to train a volunteer who will provide support for a local disabled child or young person to allow them to become fully included in their choice of local, mainstream leisure activities.

Brookside Pre-School

Brookside Pre-School is based in the grounds of the Gusford Primary School and is a registered charity.  Many of the children at this pre-school came from low income and disadvantaged families.  The Town Kids Trust grant awarded bought pre-school toys and furniture.

Alex

Alex has autism and his father is unable to work as he has terminal brain cancer.  Alex's mum is the full time carer and the family is, therefore, on a very low income.  The family applied for some financial assistance to help them have a Butlins holiday - where they have trained staff to care for autistic children.  The holiday will help Alex to continue to build the memory box he has started with the help of St Elizabeth hospice.  With thanks to Butlins who were prepared to offer a discount, the Kids Trust awarded the cost of the holiday.
